As your Interim Pastor I am here to remind you that we are on a journey together. Last month I suggested that we take along a travel kit full of resources. Last month the resource I suggested you take along was the Bible.
This month the resource I am suggesting we take is actually very easy to carry. It’s something we all forget to use on both short and long term trips. This month the priceless resource I suggest is prayer.
For most of us, the summer is a time to read new books, travel, catch up on rest and just do nothing.
This summer I am asking you to please, “Do not take a break from praying.” As our church continues on the path of the interim period, we have an awful lot of hard work ahead of us. As I said before the disciples wanted Jesus to teach them how to pray, and not how to perform miracles. They learned the power of prayer from Jesus in John 17:15. “My prayer is, not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.”
The disciples who spent a great deal of time around Jesus learned just how important praying is. As a congregation we will continue on our journey. I would encourage all of you to set aside time, every day, to pray. People have asked how much they should pray. I would encourage everyone to set aside time, daily, to pray and sometimes people have asked how often they should pray. Pray daily, or even more than once a day.
I am here to remind you that God answers each and every prayer, no matter how large or small. Remember—God will never give you a busy signal when you honestly and sincerely pray. Therefore, I’m asking each and every member of our congregation to remain busy this summer—in PRAYER.
Trusting in God always,
Pastor Ron Ballew
